Snapshots from the Farmstead: A Week in Slow Living

Hi there. The shift in weather has brought a softer rhythm to the farmstead, and I’ve been leaning into it—quiet mornings, slow tasks, a feeling of settling in. This week has felt like a gentle reset. A little cooking, a few small projects, and a return to the things that make this season feel grounding.

I’m keeping Christmas simple this year. Just a few touches, nothing fussy. I thought back to the handmade ornaments I created a few years ago, and while I’m not crafting much this season, I’m craving that same understated warmth. I also treated myself to a new milk frother, and it’s made my morning coffee feel like a tiny ritual again. Now I’m on the hunt for a local roaster to support—something I’ve missed since leaving upstate New York.

If you read this week’s Love Letters to the Farmstead, you know I skipped the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It was quiet and lovely in its own way. I found myself feeling deeply grateful for what this past year has asked of me—and for where it has brought me now.

Here’s a small glimpse of the farmstead from this past week.

Have you started decorating yet? Do you go all out, or are you keeping things simple and cozy too?
