Southern Appalachian Heritage Skills: Honoring Tradition with
Grace and Modern Living.
Welcome to Chicken Librarian!
Welcome to Chicken Librarian, where timeless Southern Appalachian traditions meet modern, intentional living. I invite you to embrace the art of thoughtful farmstead living, where the rhythm of the seasons, handcrafted traditions, and thoughtfully curated spaces come together to create a life that is both rooted and refined. Whether you’re looking to cook from scratch, design a cozy, welcoming home, or reconnect with heritage skills like gardening and preserving, Chicken Librarian is here to inspire and guide you on your journey.
I grew up in the hills of East Tennessee, surrounded by the rich traditions of Southern Appalachian culture. Over the years, my journey has taken me from Knoxville to Chattanooga to Johnson City, and even to the Catskills region of New York. Along the way, I refined my aesthetic and honed my skills for entertaining, growing my own food, hunting, and embracing the joy of farmstead living. Today, I’ve returned to my roots, living on the last 10 acres of my father’s working homestead — a place steeped in family heritage. As a gentlewoman farmer, I am committed to restoring this land’s natural beauty, nurturing heritage livestock, and embracing native landscaping.
Through Chicken Librarian, I blend my Catskills-inspired aesthetic with the vibrant traditions of Southern Appalachia. I share my passion for farm-to-table living, sustainable practices, and designing meaningful, memorable experiences. Here, I offer you the tools and inspiration to craft a life that is intentional, deeply connected to tradition, and filled with purpose and beauty.
