Kristin is a writer, host, and curator of place-based experiences whose work brings together hospitality, storytelling, traditional skills, and the beauty of everyday life.

Born and raised in East Tennessee, Kristin spent many years living in the Catskill Mountains of New York, where much of her life’s work took shape. During that time she was deeply involved in the operation of a fly-fishing resort in the region for nearly two decades. Life there revolved around welcoming guests, sharing meals, and creating memorable experiences rooted in the landscape and culture of the Catskills. Those years shaped her understanding of hospitality as both an art and a way of life.

Alongside that work, Kristin built a career in libraries, serving as a School Librarian and also a Library Director. Her years in that role deepened her commitment to research, learning, and the preservation and sharing of knowledge within communities.

Kristin’s passion for teaching and sharing knowledge first took public form with Chicken Librarian, a venture where she shared hands-on skills in homesteading, preservation, and rural living. It was the first time her curiosity, expertise, and storytelling came together as a business, giving others access to the practical knowledge she had cultivated over years of self-directed learning.

Much of what Kristin practices today—seasonal cooking, preserving food, raising animals, and creating gatherings around shared tables—grew out of years of self-taught, hands-on experience. These skills remain central to the way she approaches her work, and they form the foundation for her current venture.

Today Kristin lives on the last remaining ten acres of her father’s family land in East Tennessee. There she created The Farmstead by Chicken Librarian, a natural evolution of her original work, where she produces intimate farm-to-table experiences and gatherings that celebrate regional traditions, seasonal food, and meaningful connection. Here, storytelling, curating experiences, and sharing expertise come together to give new life to the lessons learned over a lifetime of hands-on work.

In addition to hosting events, Kristin works with land-based businesses and individuals to develop thoughtful experiences and environments that bring together hospitality, storytelling, and a sense of place. Her work is grounded in the belief that some of life’s most meaningful moments happen around shared tables, in well-loved homes, and through traditions passed quietly from one generation to the next.

Kristin has been a guest on regional radio programs in the Catskills, appeared on Living East Tennessee in Knoxville, and filmed pilot episodes for a lifestyle television concept centered on land, food, and traditional living.

Through her work, she invites people to slow down, reconnect with the land and the seasons, and rediscover the beauty of living well with intention.
