The Farmstead Workshops: Home + Garden Edition Seed Starting Mix
The Farmstead Workshops: Home + Garden Edition | Seed Starting Mix | Thursday February 12 | 7PM
Discover the practical, approachable art of starting plants from seed in this one-hour, live virtual demonstration. This session explores foundational techniques for sowing, germinating, and nurturing seedlings, with special attention to soil mixes that are effective, environmentally responsible, and thoughtfully sourced. You’ll gain clarity on why certain ingredients outperform commercially produced mixes and how to adapt them for your own home garden.
What We’ll Demonstrate
During the live session, you’ll see key seed-starting techniques from start to finish:
Selecting seeds, containers, and soil mixes with sustainability in mind
Preparing and combining soil ingredients for healthy, vigorous seedlings
Sowing seeds and maintaining consistent moisture and light
Tips for successful transplanting into garden beds or larger pots
These demonstrations emphasize process, rhythm, and decision-making, rather than rigid recipes.
Workshop Format
Demonstration-focused virtual workshop
Participants are welcome to follow along and start seeds during class
Workshops are recorded for review
A 1–2 page PDF with reference notes and ratios will be emailed within 24 hours
